2Scleroderma - Skin diseaseIntroductionI chose scleroderma because one of my patients had this disease, and I wanted to knowmore about it. Caitlyn was not just another random patient who only phoned me when she had ahealth problem, and she was the ideal client who could visit the hospital at least once per month. She could spend time with a lonely patient and support some of them both emotionally andfinancially. Thus, Caitlyn was a blessing to patients and me as she was a dedicated friendcommitted to bringing goodness to the world.Nevertheless, everything changed when Caitlyn started complaining of an intensecoldness in her feet and hands. Moreover, she became very emotional and became detachedrather than maintaining her normal friendly nature. I had never experienced such a condition inany of my patients; all tests conducted were negative. Three months later, tiny purple patchesstarted developing in Caitlyn's skin, and it was even more disappointing when these patchesincreased in size and number. We finally discovered the source of the problem, three years downthe line since Caitlyn became sick. She was diagnosed with scleroderma. However, the discoverywas not a solution, and it was more traumatic when it became apparent that nothing could bedone to save my friend and patient life as she was destined to die from this infection. Five yearslater, Caitlyn succumbed to scleroderma infection despite all the effort we employed to prolongher life and make her last moment as comfortable as possible. Thus, I decided to learn moreabout this killer infection as I hate dealing with the unknown. The following is my finding ofscleroderma infection.
