In order for Exelon to maintain a competitive edge to keep them in business, they have to come up with a strategic plan. A strategic plan alone doesn’t help the company, but the achievement of each goal that they set out. The strategic plan by the company will have an analysis internal and external factors that affects the company’s productivity rate (SWOT analysis mostly focusing on strengthsand weaknesses of the corporation), objectives and the strategy created to achieve company objectives. SITUATION AUDIT: EXELON CORPIntroductionA situation audit is a process that analyzes a company’s history and their current situation to determine how well the company is doing and what changes might be incorporated or taken out from their current action plan to help them grow. According to Ramanujan, Venkatraman and Camillus (1986), a situation analysis can be referred to as the examination of a company’s internal abilities in order to determine their strengths and weaknesses. This type of analysis is needed because every business/action plan that is put out by an organization is bound to fail them and these failures can potentially be avoided by the implementation of a situation audit. Failure to identify a company’s weakness results in these weaknesses being overlooked and not prepared for, which results in putting the business at serious risk with either losing its customer base or just going out of business in general.
