Hanqing (Azura) Ge LJ 283 Final Project-Screenplay Dec 2 nd The Crisis of the Second Son ( ????? ) Cast list Little Brother: Nakashima Shinji Furukawa Yūki Girl Next door: Karin Aoi Yu Elder Brother: Nakashima Hajime Sakurai Sho Mother: Nakashima Emiko Amami Yuki Grandfather Nakashima Kentaro Watari Tetsuya Introduction: After father’s death, Shinji took a gap year from Keio University and went back to his home in Chiba to recover and assist his brother running their family business. Although his major has no use in a seaweed production company, workers in the factory like this educated gentleman a lot more than his moody brother, Hajime. Shinji feels threatened by his Hajime because Hajime got mad whenever he saw Shinji, but Shinji does not know why. Shinji’s mother, Emiko, has been very caring to Shinji because Shinji was also injured in the car accident that kills Shinji’s father, and loss the memory of the details of the accidents. Grandpa Kentaro, who had never been close to the family since Emiko married into Nakashima family, started to visit Shinji very often and talks about their family story. Their neighbor girl Karin, whom Shinji loved since they are little, is accompanying him everyday, but it seems no one other than Shinji notice her and she can only see Shinji too. Until the day Shinji saw Emiko walk through Karin’s body, he realized that something is not right… Part 1 Fade in INT: Shinji’s room, Day Shinji waking up in his plain and pale room, his headache makes him wants to stay in the bed for a little longer, but then he heard his mother.

2 Emiko (Knocking the door and talk gently) (Camera position in the corridor on the left side of Emoki) Shinji, wake up, your grandfather is here already. He wants to talk to you today. Listen up to your grandfather, my son. You are his hope. Shinji (Suddenly open his eye) (Camera shoots the ceiling) Already? Please tell grandpa that I’ll come down soon. This headache is killing me. Shinji (O.S) (Getting dress and looking at the mirror) (Camera positioned behind of Shinji and take the back of Shinji and Shinji’s face in the mirrow) This is the fifty-seventh time since father’s funeral four months ago that grandfather visits me at 7:30 in the morning. My only explanation to this is that my grandfather misses my dad so much that he transfers all his regret to my father into the passion of talking to me about story of me when I was little, though we were never close until now. Shinji (Turn around and looks at the photo of him and his father) (Camera in Shinji’s perspective, looking down to the photo behind ) Good morning, father. It’s another cloudy day in Chiba-shi. The weather was never like this in the summer, all cloudy and rainy, when you are still here. Shinji walks out of the room and go down stairs.
