SIGNIFICANCE OF VISION AND MISSIONIn order for organizations to exist in the short, medium and long term, they must have a vision and mission statements if they want to drive good strategic management. According to Van den Steen (2005), vision is defined as a strong believe about the future and about the right course of action for a firm. An organization’s vision describes what the organization hopes to become in the future (Ketchen & Short, 2012). For members of the organization, the mission statement serves as a unifying thread that ties their day-to-day work with the organization’s purpose and role in society (Lim, Cho, Curry, 2008). SIGNIFICANCE OF VISION AND MISSION(Howes, 2014). For successful companies, these types of feelings were once felt and made people like Steve Jobs be a visionary for Apple. He never stopped believing in what he could accomplish in the future regardless of what was going on in the past or present for Apple. This kind of intuition can help develop a great vision for an organization and make the vision the positive drive to all future accomplishments without getting into too many specifics. Similarly,
