Sharks When most people hear sharks, they picture the bloodthirsty animal from Jaws or Deep Blue Sea. What those people do not know is that most types of sharks are not man-eaters. In fact, none seek out humans for a meal. We are actually doing dramatically more harm to the shark population as a whole then they have ever done to us. There are many different types of sharks. Thanks to horror movies and legends, the Great White is the best known of all. They average twelve feet long and weigh 3,000 pounds. It is also known for more attacks on people that any other type of shark. The Hammerhead is another well known shark is the Hammerhead. Its defining quality, giving it its “hammerhead” appearance allows the shark to extend the range of its senses. The most abundant of all the sharks is the Spiny Dogfish Shark, which is ironically one of the lesser known. The Whale Shark is the biggest shark in the world. It may look like a whale to most people, but the Whale shark lacks the mammal characteristic that separates whales from fish. Whale Sharks can reach 45 feet long and
