Learns to initiate tasks and deals with self control. IV. Elementary School – 6-puberty. Competence vs. Inferiority. Learns ho to make it in the world. V. Adolescence – teen-20’s. Identity vs. Role Confusion. People who didn’t deal with this issue would have identity confusion . VI. Young Adult – 20’s-40’s. Intimacy vs. Isolation. VII. Mid-Adult – 40’s-60’s. Generativity vs. Stagnation. To feel that you made a contribution to the world. VIII. Late Adult – 60’s and on. Integrity vs. Despair. Piaget – First person to have the most thorough theory of how thinking works I. Concepts a. Schema – Simple ideas about how the world works i. Assimilate – (maintain schema) ii. Accommodate – (change schema) II. Piaget’s Stages of Cognitive Development a. Birth-2 Years i. Sensory/motor – Infant experiences the world through senses and actions
