Kaiser 2 Purpose This lab provides an introduction to common measuring tools used in various testing. Also, the results of the test can be used to observe precision, accuracy and possible biases. By comparing your own measurements to your partner’s you can determine the percent difference between the two, thus determining how precise the results are and lessening the possibility of a bias created by human error. Equipment/ Apparatus 2 Scales (1 Digital, 1 Triple beam) 2 Vernier Calipers (1 Digital, 1 Analog) 1 Micrometer (1 Analog) Various nuts, bolts and washers Description of Procedure Part 1 – Measuring mass using two different scales 1. Using two different bolts (1 and 2) determine the mass of each using the digital scale and recording it in a data table. 2.
