Test 2 Review Sheet: Modules 4 & 5 Exponential & Logarithmic Functions Be able to determine the exponential growth/decay factor and 1-unit growth/decay rate, given exponential data points in a table or graph. Be able to find the yearly or monthly growth factor for an exponential function when the growth factor for n years is known. Understand and describe the meaning of exponential growth or decay, in terms of multiplicative growth/1-unit growth factor. Be able to examine patterns in data to determine if a function is growing at an exponential rate of change versus growing at a constant rate of change. Create an exponential function given two points that lie on the function. Be able to find a and b in the formula f ( t ) = ab t given two points that lie on the graph of an exponential function. Remember that t is the time, f ( t ) is the output amount, a is the initial amount, b is the growth or decay factor, and new amount / old amount = b = 1 + r , where r is the percent change or rate.
