Ashley White Eng 101 Sec 055 November, 15 th , 2007 Research Paper Proposal: The Media and Their Biased Views When Reporting News Stories and Issues The media is important in today’s society because they are the ones who bring us the news and inform us on what’s going on in the world. Those are the positive things about the media, but currently it seems the negative issues out way the positive. Many surveys have concluded that the majority of the general public view the media as biased because of many incidents that have occurred over the past couple of years. For example, the 2000 election, when Bush and Gore went head to head in state votes, many newspapers had already declared Bush the winner before the votes had already been tallied. Another incident that the media still is strongly biased on deals with the war on Iraq. Many news stations like FOX and ABC News basically put their conservative and liberal views into the stories that they headline. Because of the evident biased views,
