Paper Abstract: Due Tuesday,April 1 Paper: Due Tuesday, April 22 Assignment: Write a research paper with a length more than 3.3 pages, but no more than 4.0 pages. The paper must be typed, font size = 12, 1.5 line spacing, and include at least three non-internet references. You must print out and turn in 5 copies of your paper by the beginning of class on Tuesday, April 22. The reason for the multiple copies, is that your paper will be read by some of your classmates, as part of an in-class peer-review process. Abstract: A title and abstract (i.e., paragraph description) of your paper will be due by the beginning of class on Tuesday, April 1. The abstract must be between 75 and 150 words. It should identify the astrophysical topic that you will be researching, as well as provide an indication of what basic concepts are needed to understand this topic and why it is important. Modern scientists must constantly submit research proposals to receive access to resources that they need to do their work. An astrophysicist may submit a proposal to receive: (1) time at a ground based telescope, (2) time on a telescope in space, (3) a grant of money (to buy equipment, build telescopes, pay salaries, etc), (4) time on a supercomputer, (5) funding to build and launch a space probe. These proposals are then reviewed by a committee of experienced astrophysicists, who rank them, and decide which ones will receive funding.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
