Mike Vitale Professor Golden Che*111 3 March 2008 Chemistry of Different Compounds Purpose: To determine the products yielded from fixed chemical reactions. Hypothesis: I believe if all measurements are accurate and all observations are detailed then we can successfully determine the products yielded. Data: Compound Acid Observations MgCo3 HNO3 (Nitric Acid) Lots of bubbles; heat given off; solid dissolved quickly MgCl2 HNO3 (Nitric Acid) Solid dissolved when heat was added MgO HNO3 (Nitric Acid) Solid dissolved when heats added MgSO4 HNO3 (Nitric Acid) Solid dissolved with heat Mg(NO3) HNO3 (Nitric Acid) Solid dissolved after a few minutes Zn HNO3 (Nitric Acid) Orange/Brown colored gas released; heat given off; lots of bubbling ZnCo3 HNO3 (Nitric Acid) Lot of bubbles; Solid dissolved immediately Cu HNO3 (Nitric Acid) Dissolved immediately; green solution; Strong chemical odor CuCO3 HNO3 (Nitric Acid) Bubbles; dissolving quickly Analysis and Conclusions: MgCO3 + (HNO3) MgNO3 + H2O + CO2
