Anthony Polzine BUAD 422-005 Concept chp5 1. The benefits of planning are it improves performance for the company and employees. Planning also improves organizational and persistence. Most important planning improves profits and faster growth than companies that don’t plan. Planning can have three potential pitfalls. Companies that over commit can be slow at adapting to changes. Plans are based on the future and if the future predictions are wrong the plan will most likely fail. Finally, planning can fail when planners are detached from the implementation of plans. 2. The steps involved in making a plan that works are to: Set S.M.A.R.T goals; Develop commitment to the goals from the people who contribute to goal achievement; Develop action plans for goal accomplishment; Track progress toward goal achievement by setting both proximal and distal goals and by providing workers with regular performance feedback; Maintain continuous improvement through learning based planning help organizations maintain flexibility as they plan. 3.
