Darius Jones-Craven Jones-Craven 1Dr.Halpin English 2122 4/6/14Long Response Assignment #2: ArcadiaIn Tom Stoppard clever and unforgettable serious comedy has caught attention around theworld by its unique twist on romanticism and direct correlation with different philosophical theories. The play is ultimately based on research. Arcadia which refers to a region of ancient Greece as an imaginary and paradise place poorly describes what really goes on. In this play it shifts back and forth from the 19thcentury to the 20thcentury with different cast in each century. Although the time along changes the only stable thing is the environment which is takes place ona beautiful estate in England Sidley Park .In this play there’s a lot of twisted and unique characters that you have to closely analyze before understanding the play. As you read deeper in the play the audience is introduced to Tom Stoppard unique correlation with the human reactions in the cast and how theories such as the Chaos theory, second law of Thermodynamic theory, andmathematics all relates. Throughout the play there are clear examples that discussed these topics and in both time eras and also how they apply to the everyday human interaction with others.
