The Carolingian Intellectual Renewal * Carolingian Renaissance- “rebirth” of learning * revival of classical studies and Latin culture * Carolingian monasteries copied scripts C. Life in the Carolingian World * Family and Marriage - women were expected to be faithful; men kept concubines from their estate - church outlawed divorce * Christianity and sexuality - promoted sex after marriage - prohibited contraception and abortion
