Values Argument Purpose: to increase your skill at persuading readers to share your assessment of an issue; and to practice using qualifiers and conditions for rebuttals , as Toulmin indicated. Task: Write a persuasive essay, on an issue of your choice, in which you try to bring readers to share your assessment or evaluation of that issue. The questions that follow may help you find your topic. Note that each one basically asks, “Is this a good or a bad idea?” (You may find that this essay overlaps with the causal argument. That is not surprising: when we argue about whether something is good or bad, we often consider its consequences.) Remember, if you are going to draw on research that you have done for another course, you need to discuss your plans with me. Suggestions for Topics: 1. The Ohio state legislature is considering a proposal to require convicted violent sex offenders and child predators to place fluorescent green license plates on their cars.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
