INTERNET OF THINGS 3 BACKGROUND The Internet of things is slowly gaining popularity globally. Because of the emergence and development of wireless communication and computer technology, processers and sensors have been put into a lot of objects which are most frequently used by people across the world. To build a smart environment that's internet and technology-based, the advancements are backed up by huge development in many research and industrial areas wireless mobile communication, portable appliances and devices, wireless sensor networking, agent technologies, and human- computer interface. The smart environment has a sensor-enabled device that works together with others to create a small internet-connected world to try and make peoples' life more comfortable (Moser, 2014). Smart simply means having the ability to freely obtain and apply knowledge, and the environment refers to the surroundings. Therefore, one can improve a smart environment by acquiring knowledge and applying it following its users' requirements to better their experience of the environment they reside in. lately, it has been found out that the internet of things has gained popularity in many fields and industries such as healthcare, transport, industrial companies, and homes for a smart environment. In this discussion, we will major our concern to the Internet of Things in our homes. At home, we have entertainment systems that include television sets, gaming systems, speakers, headphones, heating and cooling systems which include; thermostats, carbon monoxide detector and smoke alarm, lights, and ceiling fan. We also have some home security systems such as alarms, smart locks, garage door openers, baby monitors to keep watch of how the baby is doing while away at work. We also have some smart home appliances such as home refrigerator, coffee makers and oven (Kao-Walter, 2015). It is not easy to ignore the prevalent and widely spread IoT. With the many new technologies in place, security challenges are also inevitable with several tricky legal challenges to blame it on the widespread use of the IoT.
INTERNET OF THINGS 4 INTERNET OF THINGS AT HOME Information on things is set to work in a given way. The smart devices are enabled by the internet to transmit information gathered from different surroundings at home using implanted sensors, software, and processors. Smart devices are created to communicate with one another (machine to machine) or with us or the owners through their smartphones (Piyare,2013).
