The Bean Treesis a perfect book to include in the American literature class because it highlights and exposes the relevant themes in the genre of American literature, has developed, relatable characters, and does so while grabbing the student emotionally but staying appropriate for school.The Bean Treesis a fully developed novel that clearly expresses themes that are relevant to the genre of American literature, such as the American dream, and individuality. Taylor while still in high school promises herself to not end up like the rest,she does not want to be just another girl that got pregnant in high school and tied down for her life.
