Name: IP Section Number: Date: In this assignment you will explore occupations that interest you and are consistent with your skills and explore industries in which these occupations exist including consideration of whether the occupations and industries you discover are consistent with your salary needs. Exploring Occupations. An occupation is the function or task that you will perform for an organization. 1. There are various web sites that catalog information about occupations: a. A good place to start is the Occupational Outlook Handbook published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Go to and select a link from the ”Occupation Group” in the left-hand menu. Then select one or more of the occupations from the list and explore. As you consider these various occupations, keep in mind what you learned from the Personal and Life-Style- and-Work-Culture Assessments that you completed earlier in the IP. Don’t limit yourself to occupations you are familiar with. When you find occupation of interest but before you settle on it, select the “Similar Occupations” link to explore alternatives.
