Gibbons 1 Kelli Gibbons Sweeney Physics 100 Lab 1 February 2008 Estimation, Measurement, and Dimensional Analysis Lab Write Up Title: This lab focuses on estimations in comparison to actual measurements and the dimensional analysis that follows both. Abstract: The purpose of this lab was to prove the importance of actual measurements rather than estimations in relationship to the results that are reached. The lab is used as a tool to teach the drastic differences between the outcomes of estimations and measurements. This lab also provided experience with conversions between meters, feet, centimeters, kilometers as well as miles, and grams to kilograms. Also found in the lab are many important equations such as volume, area, and surface area. Once the calculations are completed the lab also reassures the understanding of the answers by providing useful questions that help support a deeper understanding of what all the numbers actually mean.
