02.07 Rocky Shore Current Event—Activity Summary: The state of Maine has had boosting numbers when it comes to lobster landing. Although their “fish stocks” are very low, they are out of the charts with the lobsters. The article says that every year the number goes up by about a million. That is extremely impressive. Maine is huge on getting lobsters and majority of the people that live there is a part of the lobster mania. It is expected for these numbers to go down but they have not gone down yet, they are actually making history. In the communities lobsters are conserved in many way so that the lobsters are not caught in illegal ways. Outsiders are kept out and the coast of Maine is kept closed to new lobstermen. Carl J. Wilson believes that lobsters are growing due to the fact that they are “effectively being farmed”. There are many theories on why lobster populations are increasing in Maine. Many of the people in Maine live off of lobster sales, so if they drop those people are in trouble. There is going to be enough lobsters to go around for
