Kyle Bryant April 28, 2020 Dr. Lori Parks Art 189 Discussion: M5 Do-Ho Suh: The kinds of identities and stereotypes he’s exploring in his work mainly comes from a personal standpoint. He references a lot of his past life and where he’s from in Korea and takes that identity and uses it towards his artwork. Other themes Suh deals within his art piece, that have relevance, is him being in the Korean Army. He took dog tags and made a great sculpture to shine light on that part of his life. It's in correlation with his art piece called “place” due to the fact that Korea has a very great population size. He addresses his sense of displacement by making a replication of his parents' home out of different fabric and sewing techniques that he used to set up in his own house. This is cross-culturally relatable because so many people are homesick when they leave their home country for an extended period of time. Overall, I really like Suh’s work. He has a lot of pieces that I can relate to being that I’ve had to deal with going
