Scopes, Dayton, Tennessee. ●In 1925, it was against the law to teach Darwin's theory, in Tennessee ●American, CivilLiberties Union, ACLU, is to protect the civil liberties of the American people when they felt that they are violated. This could lead to the law changing or being removed to not violate the people’s civil liberties. They provide free legal aid. They fight for what they think is Constitutional. ●The ACLU put an advertisement in the appear saying if you see a teacher teaching Darwin’s theory, you can press charges and get free lawyer service. It was hot out ●The Chamber of Commerce is when all the local businesses gather together and make decisions as a whole. ●They make stuff look in the town so people will buy stuff and attract people. ●1925, the economy in Tnesses is a little bit in a slump and the Chamber of Commerce says if we get the teacher to teach Darwin’s theory and get charged, it will get a lot of national attention in Dayton Tennessee. This means business for them in the town and wanted money. The selling of ice cream and stuff did really happen but it was outside, and pretty far away from the court but not on the actual court. ●John T Scopes after some prompted illegally taught Darwin's theory, there was a case out of it, and he became known for teaching Darwin’s theory ●There is no arrest and he would not face imprisonment, he could lose his job and get fined, he would not go to jail. ●Mathew Hariosn Brady is preceded by William Henning s Bryan. ●William Jennings Bryan ran three times for president, a great orator, secretary of state under Woodrow Wilson. He really did help women to vote, and farmers/common man. He really was a Christian fundamentality. he was indeed called as a witness in the casse. But he knew this was gonna happen, and did not call himself a prophet and be suprised. Brady never read Darwin, Bryan was very familiar with Darwin but did not really believe in it. $100 fine = $1300 today ●He resigned as his secretary of state, because Wodrorw Wilson says we need to be neutral and Bryan said that he is helping Britain and hurting Germany ●One of his famous speeches is that the cross of Gold is not only the US government should make money in gold, but also silver to back it up. IF you use silver, it would help and benefit the farmers and more money available to them. ●He does a demonstration of Jesus and says we will not hang the economy of the cross of GOld ●He hold is one quite well and Matyhew Hrriosn Brady never read Darwin's theory of evolution but Bryan did ●William Jennings Bryan did die after 14 days after the trail, it may be because the stress of the trial contributed a lot ●Brady is a baby while William is well spoken ●Henry Drummond is basically ofClarence Darrow ●Clarence darrow s is a well known lawyer and defined Endicott Publishing
