As society advances, many teenagers are left behind with little to no guidance, which lead them to turn to negative activities for entertainment. I believe that it is the parents who receive responsibilities first to the child. It is their responsibility to instill the building blocks for them to learn and grow upon. It then becomes their own responsibility to take these steps and continue to build upon them as they grow. This can happen through a number of ways, the first being the community. I feel as though the community plays a significant role in the upbringing of any child in today’s society. Adults within communities complain about youth being involved in negativity but don’t reciprocate the adequate resources programs to put these at risk youth in positions to succeed in life. A child may have certain skills and gifts but if they are not provided with resources within the community to help them use these gifts and skills, they then become wasted. It is unfair for adults to categorize children as nothing more than problems and mishaps,
