Lab 04: NetBackup PoliciesIn this lab, you use theNetBackup Administration Consoleto configure NetBackup policies and schedules to performbackups of client file systems to pre-configured storage destinations.This lab includes the following exercises:Exercise A: Configuring a policy to use frequency-based schedulesExercise B: Configuring a policy to use calendar-based schedulesExercise C: Copying a policy to create a new policyExercise A: Configuring a policy to use frequency-based schedulesIn this exercise, you will use theNetBackup Administration Consoleto manually configure a policy to perform both fulland incremental backups of a client's file systems.To accomplish these tasks, you will:Access theNetBackup Administration Consolewindow onconsole.vrtsedu.lab, and log in to your NetBackupmaster server.Create a new policy.Configure the policyAttributesusing a set of provided parameters.Configure policySchedulesto perform full and incremental backups using sets of provided schedule parameters.Configure the policyClientsusing a set of provided parameters.Configure the policyBackup Selectionsusing a set of provided parameters.Save the policy, and verify the new policy exists in the list of NetBackup policies.
Accessing the NetBackup Administration Console1.Access the desktop of theconsole.vrtsedu.labsystem.?console.vrtsedu.labUserID: VRTSEDU\AdministratorPassword: [email protected]2.Log on to theconsolesystem using the userid and password,VRTSEDU\Administrator, [email protected].3.Locate and double-click theNetBackup 8.3 Administration Consoleicon, located on the desktop oftheconsolesystem, to launch theNetBackup Administration Console.4.Enter theHost name,User name, andPasswordin the Administration Console login screen to connect toyour master server. See the table below.Master server nameUser NamePasswordlnxmaster.vrtsedu.labroot[email protected]5.At times, you may be unable to login to theNetBackup Administration Console, and the following errormessage is displayed:Unable to login, status:7656. The revocation status of the host certificate cannot be verifiedusing the Certificate Revocation List (CRL), because the CRL is not updated. It is older than sevendays.Note that the CRL expires every 7 days and must be manually refreshed in these labs.Execute the following command on thelnxmasterserver to generate a newCRL:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbcertcmd -getCRL
If you are issuing the command from theconsoleserver, then execute thefollowing:install_path\Veritas\Netbackup\bin\nbcertcmd –getCRL -server lnxmaster.vrtsedu.labAt times, thegetCRLcommand may fail to refresh the certificates and the following error message is displayed:Failed to get the latest certificate revocation list for master server [master server name], error:EXIT STATUS 5978: Attempt to refresh certificate revocation list failed.
