Lab 15: NetBackup ReportingIn this Lab, you run several NetBackup reports that can provide useful information for troubleshooting NetBackup-relatedproblems. You also run some useful reports in NetBackup OpsCenter and create custom reports.This lab includes the following exercises:Exercise A: Generating reports in NetBackup Admin ConsoleExercise B: Generating reports using OpsCenterExercise A: Generating reports in NetBackup Admin ConsoleIn this exercise, you run several NetBackup reports that can provide useful information for troubleshooting NetBackup-related problems. These reports include the:Status of Backups reportClient Backups reportProblems reportAll log entries reportMedia Logs reportTape ReportsDisk ReportsVault Reports
The policies in this lab environment have a limited retention period. After the retention period is over, the images aredeleted from the backup media and are not be available for reports. If you are not able to find the required backupimages, re-run the manual backup job as explained in Lab 10: NetBackup Dedeuplication (Exercise C).Running the Status of Backups reportIn the steps that follow, you initiate theStatus of Backupsreport from theNetBackup Administration Consoleandview the report output.1.Access the desktop of theconsole.vrtsedu.labsystem.?console.vrtsedu.labUser ID: VRTSEDU\AdministratorPassword: [email protected]2.Locate and double-click theNetBackup 8.3 Administration Consoleshortcut, located on the desktop oftheconsole.vrtsedu.labsystem.3.In theNetBackup Administration Consolelogin screen, log in to your master server using theUsernameandPasswordinformation provided in the table below.Host nameUser namePasswordlnxmaster.vrtsedu.labroot[email protected]4.At times, you may be unable to login to theNetBackup Administration Console, and the following errormessage is displayed:Unable to login, status:7656. The revocation status of the host certificate cannot be verifiedusing the Certificate Revocatio List (CRL), because the CRL is not updated. It is older than sevendays.
Note that the CRL expires every 7 days and must be manually refreshed in these labs.Eexecute the following command on thelnxmasterserver to generate a newCRL:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbcertcmd -getCRLIf you are issuing the command from theconsoleserver, then execute thefollowing:install_path\Veritas\Netbackup\bin\nbcertcmd –getCRL -server lnxmaster.vrtsedu.labAt times, thegetCRLcommand may fail to refresh the certificates and the following error message is displayed:Failed to get the latest certificate revocation list for master server [master server name], error:[5978]EXIT STATUS 5978: Attempt to refresh certificate revocation list failed.In this scenario, reboot the master server and then connect to it using theNetBackup Administration Console.
