1. What are Joseph’s ethical problems? An ethical problem that is stated in this text is
receiving gifts or “kickbacks” from clients. Another would be conflict of interest. His
boss electing to be his wife’s client is a conflict of interest. The third that I see is the
kickbacks affecting the consumer market or pricing.
2. Assume that you are Joseph and discuss your options. Prior to finding out about his wife
taking on his boss, I would have discussed this situation with her. How some employees
are taking kickbacks and how he thinks his boss, Kathryn would react based on past
performances. Hopefully she will not take Kathryn on as a client, even though they need
