Grantz 1 Katie Grantz Mr. Walsh College Writing 17 February 2014 When we take the time to observe the life of an American teenager between the ages of 14 to 18, we will see a peer group that is absorbed in the latest fashion, top musical artist, which person they would like to try to be “more than friends” with, and an endless amount of texting the juicy gossip from the school’s “it” couple and catching up on the latest episode of Pretty Little Liars or The Walking Dead. Now to take a look at teens in countries such as Syria, Iraq, Turkey, and Sudan. Here we will see a much different lifestyle and list of priorities. We will see a more violent, war hungry peer group eager to enlist in a military school where they will learn the basics of using large weapons and dismembering their enemy. The question to ponder is what kind of life are the children in such a hate filled culture living, and what are the effects of being exposed to the war scene at such a young age?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
