Also, to be discussed are what skills/powers Dracula shows andwhat are his weaknesses.In my opinion, one advantage of using journals, newspaper articles, and letters is that it gives usan intimate understanding of the characters’ viewpoints, personalities, and emotions. Jonathan Harker’sjournal recounts his emotional experience while trapped in Castle Dracula and his fear of imminent doomstating, “…God preserve my sanity, for to this I am reduced” (41). Harker is referring to the emotion ofhaving very little to hope for, except his sanity. This would have been the one chance for him to calculatea way out of this horrific experience.
