Example: 2 Objects Moving The thing to remember here is that this is just two separate problems ON THE SAME coordinate axis. The positions are relative to each other. Each object will have its own equations, but some variables will be the same for both (time, position when they meet or pass). Most of the time the question will be, when are the two things at the same spot, or in other words, how long is it before x1 = x2. It could also ask, after a certain amount of time (given, or you figure out) where are obj 1 and obj 2 when they hit. Example: A Mercedes is traveling 20 m/s east when the Mercedes driver (Maggie) spots a BMW convertible 500 meters away driving straight at her. The BMW is traveling west at a speed of 15 m/s. The BMW driver (Kirsten) spots Maggie at the same time. Both cars hit the brakes and stop JUST BEFORE they hit each other (ie assume the final positions of the cars are the same, but there is no crash). How long before they stop?
