A CHRISTMAS CAROL MORALITY ESSAY The story of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens shows how one person can become very greedy and selfish when they are miserable. Ebenezer Scrooge is a businessman who works at a counting house. Scrooge’s nephew, Fred, wanted to spend Christmas with Scrooge, but Scrooge hates Christmas, so he declines. His old partner, Jacob Marley, who passed away visits Scrooge. Jacob tells Scrooge that three spirits are going to visit him, the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future. Scrooge learned that his actions he made in the past, have consequences. Scrooge represents the wealthy who neglects the less fortunate. At the very beginning of the story Scrooge was selfish. He refused to donate money when asked. One of the spirts, Christmas past, came to Scrooge and showed him his past. The spirt did this by showing Scrooge pictures of years before. Scrooge was also very rude. He showed this by being extremely disrespectful to his employee, Bob Cratchit. Bob wanted one day off to celebrate with his son Tiny Tim, and
