If you had told me 7 years ago that I would be an aspiring Occupational Therapist, I would have probably laughed at you. “OT? Those hand therapists?” My introduction to occupational therapy began when I accepted my first position as a Physical Therapy Tech. The Occupational Therapist on staff showed up once or twice a week, worked with one patients’ hand and left. I remember thinking how boring that field must be. I was so wrong. When I entered the rehabilitation field in 2013, I was adamant about becoming a Physical Therapist. I learned how PTs also helped to rehabilitate children that had suffered from serious injuries and with my nephew recently suffering from a traumatic brain injury, that had become my driving factor. Soon after I entered the Houston Community College PTA program. Well life happens, the birth of my son followed closely by the loss of my grandfather, I no longer felt that drive. Needless to say, I did not complete the program and for a while, I felt lost I failed myself. Yet, I did not understand how much of a
