Community Policing Affect on Crime Rate The purpose of this research is to explore Community Policing from the viewpoint of police officers. I feel this is the best way to get a reliable attitude towards the policy. People of the public wouldn’t be a good source to use because they don’t really know of all the crimes that go on around them. They don’t understand community policing and what it means to the safety of the public. The officers have the best standpoint to see what is really going on because they deal with both the citizens of the community everyday, and also the criminals. They know what crimes are still being committed and which ones aren’t due to the policy of Community Policing. The best way to obtain the information needed to complete the research would probably be surveys and questionnaires. Interviews would work, but I don’t feel it is necessary to interview all those officers when a survey of questionnaire would be just as effective and a lot less time consuming. In the case of this research, surveys and questionnaires would be the best way to go because you could make a twenty question survey and deliver them to all of the police stations you wish to examine. In order to save time and money, I would distribute them to police departments across Massachusetts. There are many towns in Massachusetts and I would choose certain ones such as Boston, Springfield, Worcester, Brockton, Weymouth, Quincy, Framingham, Lowell, etc. These are some of the largest populated towns in MA. Along with these towns, I would want to receive feedback from smaller towns such as Rockland, Braintree, Woburn, Rowley, Abington, Norwell, etc. After this I would also examine other areas of Massachusetts
