Have you ever asked yourself “How Advertisers pitch their Advertisements, could it be with the words or images they use?” William Lutz an English Professor from Rutgers University claims the use of weasel words mislead consumers and states “Your job is to figure out exactly what each word is doing in the ad, not what the advertiser wants you to think.” (Lutz, pg.26). Another strategy advertiser use is Psychology, Adam Ferrior says that advertisers find an emotional connection with consumers that “Make us buy things that we don’t want” (Ferrier, pg.1). We are going to exam Chik-fil-a billboard ad about eating their chicken to see if we find any weasel words and identify the psychology connection to consumers.
