Miscellaneous Scriptural Notes Regarding Topics Covered in Class and Topics Which Could Appear on Tests Some Attributes (Qualities, Characteristics) of God Genesis 17:1. “I am God the Almighty .” Omnipotence . Psalm 145:13. “The Lord is trustworthy in every word , and faithful in every work. V.17 You, Lord, are just in all your ways, faithful in all your works.” God does not change what He has said. His word can be relied upon. He keeps His promises. 2 Samuel 7:28. “And now, Lord God, you are God and your words are truth .” Tobit 3:2. “You are righteous , O Lord, and all your deeds are just ; All your ways are mercy and truth ; you are the judge of the world.” Matthew 5:48. Jesus says, “ ‘ So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect .” Prophet Isaiah 40:28. The Lord is the eternal God, creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint nor grow weary , and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny.” Yet God can choose to not work and rest as in Genesis 2:3, which does not say He rested because He was weary. His rest is a model for humans to keep holy the sabbath by also resting from work. Humans, unlike God, need rest. Isaiah 40:25. “To whom can you liken me as an equal? says the Holy One. Leviticus 19:1-2. “The Lord said to Moses, ‘Speak to the whole Israelite community and tell them: Be holy, for I the Lord your God, am holy .’ “ Psalm 147:5. “Great is our Lord, vast in power, with wisdom beyond measure .” God is infinite wisdom . Psalm 145:3. “Great is the Lord and worthy of high praise; God’s grandeur is beyond understanding.” Psalm 145:7-9. “They publish the renown of your abounding goodness , and joyfully sing of your justice . The Lord is gracious and merciful , slow to anger and abounding in love. The Lord is good to all, compassionate to every creature.” Gospel of John 4: 24. “God is spirit .” 1 John 4:16. “God is love .” 1 Timothy 1:17. “To the king of ages, incorruptible , invisible , the only God , honor and glory forever and ever.
