Case Study Analysis: Race, Ethnicity and CultureCase 6.3: Diverse Friends DayExamining the classroom environment and climate, one can identify that the classroom environment, school atmosphere, and overall climate is changing within the 21stcentury. Dr. Eugene Garcia stated that diversity in increasing in the United States (Laureate Education, 2015c). Students who come from a diverse background can often feel that they do not fit in or have a since of belonging. Teachers must learn how foster the cultures within their classrooms to ensure all students feel welcomed and can learn. The case study in which I will do an analysis onis case 6.3 Diverse Friends Day (Gorski & Pothini, 2018, pp. 51-53).ProblemsThe problem in this story is surrounding around race, social groups, and biases. According to Gorski & Pothini (2018) the school was predominantly white with a 40% of the school population being students of color. Another problem that was identified with this scenario was the concept behind diverse day. The concept behind diverse day is for students to get to know other students based on the level of engagement among the students (Gorski & Pothini, 2018). The problem with this is that because the population of colored students are low, white students will connect with other white students. There are not enough students of colored for the white students to pair with. The last problem identified in this case study was the lack of knowledge on the school racial issue and lack of identifying with one another. Julio stated,
