Statement of Purpose In writing this essay I hope to inform my readers on the hazards of genetically modified organisms, in this case being food. Genetic engineering is a new field with many areas still undergoing much research. Due to it being so new, long-term effects on use of the new organisms have not been fully discovered. The lack of current knowledge on these products, I feel, should be exposed to the public. I believe that the consumer should be aware of what he or she is eating, and know its origin. I want my reader to establish a concern for themselves for what they are consuming. By doing so they would begin to create a self-awareness. This awareness would help the reader chose a healthier conscious decision based life style. It would push the reader to research all aspects of their lives to know the truth of what they are not only choosing to eat but live out and support. Ultimately, I wish to show the reader all the needs for further research. I believe showing the big picture of genetically modified foods will light a fire of concern for the unknown aspects of todays current products. I wish to create an argument based on concerns all consumers should be demanding. I hope to show and promote a path of choosing the best product for ones self in hopes of receiving enlightenment. To be the best a person can be, one must strive to better all aspects of their life and demand the best. In this case, it just so happens to be health, but the big picture shows the necessity of not being shut behind closed doors. For these reasons, I establish the purpose of my paper on striving to better ones well being physically by the consumption of healthy foods and mentally by growing in understanding of what one chooses support.

I begin the first section of my paper with three paragraphs that contain my first support topic, a counter argument and second support topic to disprove the counter argument. a. My first topic sentence is on the harmful effects altered crops could cause. The main concern is cross-pollinations effects on a large scale and the reaction it would cause. b. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
