2ndAnalytical Brief: In a time where it feels like the peak of globalization, world hunger is one social dilemma that has only gotten worse. This epidemic is a global issue, from northern western societies southern developing nations. In this analytic brief, we will focus on Sustainable Development Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. This goal contains a total of eight targets that range from ending hunger and malnutrition to cultivating plants and a sustainable source of food. According to dosomething.org “11.3% of the world’s population is hungry. That’s roughly 805 million people who go undernourished on a daily basis, consuming less than the recommended 2,100 calories a day.” This does not mean that there is a shortage of food – there is enough food produced in this world to feed the world population and beyond. However, inequality of food distribution and for-profit capitalistic views have resulted in an epidemic that can be solved.
