Name World history Essay Title:Confucian, Daoist, and Legalist ideas about how people should be governed, and their similarities or differences. After the Zhou Dynasty collapsed, conflicts arose which resulted in the series of wars between the states in China. This period was known as the Warring States Period which lasted from 475 BCE to 221 BCE. During this tumultuous time, different ideologies about life and governance began springing up and three of the prominent ideologies were Confucianism, Legalism and Daoism. Confucianism’s ideologies about governance is that people should be governed through moral force and kept in order through rituals which would make them develop a sense of shame and correct themselves; whilst Legalist ideologies is concentrated on autocratic, centralized rule with harsh penalties, and Daoism ideologies recognizes no law but the Dao (the way) and requires no action in order to govern.
