Depressants short -term effects are slow brain function, slowed pulse andbreathing, lowered blood pressure, poor concentration, confusion, fatigue, dizziness,slurred speech, fever, sluggishness, visual disturbances, dilated pupils, disorientation, lackof coordination, depression, difficulty or inability to urinate, addiction. Long-term use ofdepressants can produce depression, chronic fatigue, breathing difficulties, sexualproblems and sleep problems.Stimulants. These are any drug that excites any bodily function, but morespecifically those that stimulate the brain and central nervous system. are a class of drugsthat speed up the messages between the brain and the body. They can make a person feelmore awake, alert, confident or energetic. These cause stimulation of the brain, giving riseto alertness and increased bursts of activity. A rapid heart rate, dilated pupils, raised bloodpressure, nausea or vomiting and behavioral changes such as agitation, and impairedjudgment may also result. In
