Unit 7 Assn When you are troubleshooting any IT issue, including VPN issues, technicians are tempted to jump to the technical portion of the trouble shooting. While these more technical issue can cause problems , it is important to start with the simple basic possibilities. In many cases the problems lie in these simple issues. The following would be overview of the steps that you should take when troubleshooting a VPN connections issue: 1. Insure that the user’s computer is functioning correctly outside of the VPN issue. A. Will it turn on and boot correctly B. Does the user have network connectivity C. Does the user have a connection to the internet D. If a VPN Client is being used does it load up correctly

Insure that the user is using the correct username/password and that items like CapsLock are not activated 4. Insure the settings in the VPN client are correct. 5. Identify any error codes that are given when the user attempts to log in. 6. Verify the user is in your VPN allow security group. 7. Make sure that your ASA is configured correctly to allow the VPN connection. There are many other detailed steps that can be taken to go deeper into trouble shooting. However, a procedure that will fix many issues is to uninstall and re-install the VPN client....
