THE TRUTH ABOUT OCEAN POLLUTION 2AbstractIt is no secret that ocean pollution has increased over the years. With the use of boats, cruises, fishing, and other ocean activity, pollution has built up. More specifically the large abundances of trash in the oceans. There are over 5 trillion pieces of just plastic in the ocean that could be reported in 2015. In the past 6 years it can be assumed that number has increased. Although over 5 trillion pieces of plastic has been found that does not account for oil spills, crashed plans and ships, and other forms of trash that could have been dumped in the ocean. One interest that hasn’tbeen discussed enough is “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch” or also known as “Trash Island”.

With twenty-nine percent of earth being land and the other seventy-one percent being land there is not much place for all the trash made. Trash is being dumped in the ocean or wounds up there with the amount of pollution on land. There is a long list of facts that pertain to ocean pollution. Some examples are, there is more plastic than fish, most plastic waste can be broken down to microplastic, East Asia
