The Bay of Pigs would not have been better if it was done asan overt operation. The covert operation only resulted inCastro preparing for the attack. The covert operation failed.An alternative type of operation to consider is only the tacticsthat were used. There was a lack of planning, lack of airsupport, and much hesitation. The operation would have beensuccessful if it was planned accordingly. When President JohnF. Kennedy took office in 1961, he took responsibility for thewelfare of the country and its citizens and he took part in asecret war with Cuba that was run by the CIA. JFK was not avery liked man by the CIA and certain corridors of thePentagon due to them knowing his views on foreign mattersand how it would be in direct conflict with what they havebeen working on (Chung 2021).
