Why did the population increase? After 1740 weather got better, more food supplycausing women to have more successful pregnancies, and the death rate decreasedwhile the birth rate increased.We can see the push for more farmland to support the influx of people because swamps were drained for more farmland. Mosquitoes and malaria thrive in swamps. Church had a service for taking on more children, showing how there was a higher birth rate. There was a drop in food supply in 1788.18th century consisted of almost constant warfare. Pressure was being places on governments to pay for the wars. All three following facts lead to the French Revolution: population increase, war, and paying for war.England’s Position in the 18th Century George I came to England in 17131707 Act of Union is passed adding Scotland and England together. George I brought his 2 mistresses as translators, who were referred to as the elephant and the maypole, they did not know very much English. Due to George’s lack of English, Parliament gained more control. George II dies in 1760. Parliament truly gains the upper hand in England.
1760-1820 George III is king and tries to get some of the power that the king has lost. Which this struggle is giving American colonies a chance to slip away. 3 George’s gave way to Parliament. Therefore, parliament imposed taxes, and ran England. Peasants felt that they were being represented in the parliament that existed in England and Scotland. Parliament was supreme in England and Scotland and there was much less animosity amongst there people. This is why Britain comes out better than any other country during these wars. France’s Position in the 18th CenturyFrance gives way to an entirely different situation than England. Wars were being fought 1663-1714
