2The Final PaperLeaders play an essential purpose in the maturity and success of any organization.According to Forum (2017), Eisenhower once described leadership as "the art of gettingsomeone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it" (para. 4). Leaders arethe individuals who gain knowledge from real-life circumstances and enhance themselvesthrough experience, apart from the acquired understanding through education. Victorious leadersare effective, selfless, and engaged. These types of characteristics draw followers in, followerswho realize their dreams and goals through the selfless efforts of a leader.A leader is commonly referred to as the person who can influence people's behavior tostrive willingly and enthusiastically towards achieving group objectives. Throughout this course,we examined different leadership styles and theories, and how they can be relevant to anorganization's growth and achievements. Leadership styles are general categories of leadershiptheories that help identify and explain how and why a particular group of individuals becomeleaders. In this paper, I will describe how the Trait Theory is most relevant to organizationalleadership, discuss the influence and impact of my strengths and weaknesses, and review myleadership style based on the factors that tie into motivation in an organization.Trait TheoryTrait theories of leadership define the specific personality traits which distinguish leadersfrom non-leaders. The Trait Theory is an extension of the Great Man Theory, a founded featureof different leaders – both the successful and unsuccessful. Trait Theory's basis is that “leadersare born, not made” a leadership theory first proposed by Thomas Carlyle in the mid-1800s(Spector, 2016, sec. 2.2). The capability to lead is something that people are born with and not
3something that could be developed. Carlyle's approaches sparked initial examination onleadership, which solely concentrated on inheritable traits. The Trait Theory is practical and related to organizational leadership because leaders takeownership and recognize their strengths based on their traits and actions. According to Daft(2018), leaders can excel in life by amplifying their strengths, rather than concentrating onrepairing their weaknesses, which will help them stay motivated, responsible, and fulfilled
