Lyrica Garguilo HIS 200June 24, 2021I choose to talk about the Women’s Suffrage Movement along with the Nineteenth Amendment. The Woman Suffrage Movement was a long fight that took about 100 years for them to win. The main goals were for them to get equal access to education and employment, equality within marriage and have the right to vote. The event is historical because if it wasn’t for that movement today women would still be looked at as less than a man and we would still beunable to vote and voice our opinion. Also, the Second Great Awakening played a part in creating ideas and perceptions on women’s rights and it also happen it have roots in abolition times. So, when you really start to think about it actually started in the northern states, while the southern states made a mockery of the women’s rights movements. When it comes down to it all of this lead up to Nineteenth Amendment and the acceptance of women’s rights. This topic is very significant to me because even till this day women are still having major troubles for havingequal rights in the workplace and every other aspect of life. We still can’t go out by ourselves at night for a jog, to a party, to the store without fearing of being raped, kidnapped and sex trafficking etc. Till this day there are many things that need to change for women and their rights,which is why this topic is so significant and important to everyone especially women.
