Apple takes the approach of taking complete control over the iPhone. They build the software, design the operating systems, run the marketing campaigns, and run their own app store, as to keep away any programs that are seemingly offensive or a threat to their company. By doing this, apple can control everything that goes on with the iPhone with no outside activity, almost the opposite approach of Android. For this reason, things like the Apple app store are much more organized and easier to navigate. Because of this, Apple has made over $3 billion in app sales compared to the $100 million that Android has made. The downside of Android apps are that not all are able to be used on all Android phones which is a major downside to the Androids come-one come-all policy. iPhone however does seem to have a competitive advantage over the Android market.
