Running Head: THE SOCIOLOGY OF MEIntroductionMy name is Jessica Quintana-Saxton, I am 40 years old and the mother to 4 biologicalchildren and just became a grandma to my first grandbaby. I was born and raised in Salt LakeCity, Utah and I am continuing my education in the field of Psychology. I am from a middle-class divorced family who lived in Salt Lake City, Utah. I moved around a lot when I wasyounger, and I lost my father at the age of 9. I went to Hunter High School in West Valley City,Utah up until the middle of my 10thgrade year when I found out I was pregnant with my firstchild. I was able to complete my education by the help of a Teen Parent Program and wasmarried shortly after my son was born. Divorced my children’s father after about 10 years ofmarriage. Today, I am a mother of 3 boys (24, 21, 21) and 1 girl (17), been remarried for 7 yearsand went back to school to pursue my undergraduate degree almost 4 years ago.Through this assignment I am able to look at what impact special forces may have had onmy life and the ability to reflect on any concepts that I have encountered throughout this course.Culture and SocializationThe process of socialization starts from birth and continues throughout our lives and canbe defined as the process by which people learn to become members of society (Tepperman &Curtis, 2011, p. 58).
