NIACS code 11 Weird job paper According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a noodler is a “stupid Person”, and after reading about a noodle you will probably agree. Noodling was first started by Native Americans during the spring months and early summer. According to an article by Keith Sutton, a noodler can also be called “hogging,” “tickling,” “grabbling,” or “stumping.” A traditional noodler is an extreme fisherman. To be exact, a catfish fisherman, but they do not use hooks, lines, reels and rods. It involves going into lakes and rivers in the south and southern Midwest and sticking one’s hands in giant catfish nests. Once they find a nest they hold their hand underwater and wait for a catfish to come and bite their hand. After the catfish is attached on to their hand the noodler pulls the catfish out of the hole and wrestles it into shore. There are modern day nontraditional noodlers that make artificial nests out of wood, they then put on scuba gear and protective suits and retrieve the catfish.
