Percy Diiorio Foglesong Intro American Politics 23 March 2014 The Koch Influence The Koch brothers are very relevant in today’s politics because of the enormous influence they currently hold. Their worth is somewhere in the neighborhood of thirty- four billion dollars which falls short of only Warren Buffet and Bill Gates on the Forbes list. The Koch brothers are the owners of Koch Industries, which owns companies like Georgia-Pacific which produces “Dixie” plastic cups and other similar items along with “Brawny” napkins. They also own INVISTA which is a fibers company and the Koch brothers are known for having gained their money in the oil industry. In the heated political climate that exists in the USA today, the Koch brothers play a gargantuan role. The Koch brothers are lobbyist and are willing to throw hundreds of millions of dollars to right wing to fight Obama’s agenda. For Republicans, the Koch brothers are a savior, for Democrats, they are a demonic duo. This split in ideaology is well documented as it
