TA Instruments DSC Q10 Procedure [-90ºC to 550ºC] 1) Using tweezers to handle aluminum bottoms and covers prepare sample of appropriate size and weight (fits in encapsulated aluminum pans and weighs 5- 20mg) 2) Crush Thermoset or thermoplastic pellets into powder on a clean sheet of paper to facilitate crosslinking. 3) Put powdered or liquid sample onto scale that is pre-tared with a sample pan to determine weight of sample in mg. 4) Loading weighed sample with tweezers: Remove three lids on DSC Q10 place sample pan on front right and reference “empty” pan on rear left. Centering the pans on their ports will give more accurate results. 5) Turn on computer. 6) Turn on DSC in bottom, right rear of the DSC Q10: wait for lower green light to turn on. (if communication problems rebut computer) 7) Turn the nitrogen gas on by top knob; side knob is preset and regulator reads 20psi 8) [Click] TA Instrument Explorer icon 9) [Right click] Q10-0414 to connect to instrument 10) Turn on the RCS (refrigerated cooling system” unit or “Event” by flipping green
